It's all over the news ~ Snowmegaddon in Chicago. Although I'm about 50 miles NW of the city, we got hit. This is what I saw when I opened my front door this morning. Some reports say we got 18-20 inches of snow last night. Snow, along with thunder and lightening. And more snow. And this was after I was out snow blowing at about 8pm last night.
My youngest, James, tried to clear a path out the front door.
All the drifts in front of the garage door. Well over a 1/3 of the way up the door.
I'm now VERY tired from doing several hours of snow blowing. Not the easy kind where you just walk behind it, but pushing and pulling the snowblower since the snow was so deep. I had plans of doing some rug hooking, but that will have to wait, as my shoulder and hands are too tired.
Last night, I almost finished the punch needle piece. Just need to add a couple more rows of black around the border, then create a pinkeep from it. Hope to get that one on Ebay soon.

We only had 12 inches..thought I would never say "only". We have snow drifts..pictures will be on my blog later.. The plow just came by and we were all done shoveling..left a 4 foot wall at the end of driveway..I am not complaining about the plows..They do such a fantastic job with clearing roads..Now we have to dig out the end of the driveway.. We are thankful to have the big snow blower but it was having a hard time handling the snow drifts..Stay safe and warm and don't over do it.. Lisa
Wow! Now that is really being snowed in. I have been watching the weather channel. Stay safe and stay warm and do not over do it. trying to dig out of that snow could be a never-ending job. Blessings!
Your pictures remind me of here in Baltimore last February when we had back to back blizzards. I am so glad this time that we only had a thin coating of ice yesterday morning that melted pretty quickly and overnight last night into early morning freezing rain/ice that turned into all rain by school time this morning.
We shoveled for days last year...get some rest and relax.

OK...why were you using the snowblower? You have 4 males in your house!!
Goodness now that is a big amount of snow. Please be careful out there. Hope your shoulders and hands feel better soon.
I feel the same as you...I'm worn out and my hands and wrists are sore from pushing and pulling the snow blower AFTER I knocked the drifts down enough to blow the snow. We're still not plowed out. Lake Zurich has said the snow is too much for the small plows to handle in the cul-de-sacs, so we have to be patient. Since tomorrow is another snow day, I can use that for quilting, reading, cleaning house, and some laundry.
Kate was having a hard time understanding how epic this snowstorm was. I had to tell her that ALL Lake County roads were closed to travel until tonight and that ALL schools were closed and that almost ALL businesses were closed...they didn't even bother to read the school closings today on the radio. I wanted to take some pictures of our house but my very old digital camera (3 MP) is no longer working. I'm going to use my birthday money to buy a new one...when I can get to a store!
